Narappa is a 2021 Indian Telugu action drama film written and directed by Srikanth Addala. It is a remake of Vetrimaaran’s Tamil film Asuran (2019) and is based on Poomani’s novel Vekkai. The film is produced by D. Suresh Babu and Kalaipuli S. Thanu under their banners Suresh Productions and V Creations respectively. The film stars Venkatesh, Priyamani, Karthik Rathnam and Vasishtha N. Sinha in other key supporting roles with Nassar, Rao Ramesh, Rajeev Kanakala, Brahmaji, Ammu Abhirami, Aadukalam Naren and Karthik Rathnam in other key supporting roles.

Mani Sharma has composed music for the film, while cinematography and editing are by Shyam K. Naidu and Marsand K. Venkatesh respectively. Principal photography for the film began in January 2020 and was shot in Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Telangana. Narappa premiered on Amazon Prime Video on July 20, 2021.

Narappa Movie Story
The story is set in Ramasagaram, a small village with an oppressive social hierarchy. Narappa (Venkatesh) owns his family’s land, which the richest man in the village, Pandusamy (Naren), wants to inherit. Narappa’s eldest son, Munikanna (Karthik Ratnam), rebels without his father’s knowledge. This sets off a chain reaction that puts Sinappa (Rakhi, making his debut as Narappa’s 16-year-old son), his wife Sundaramma (Priyamani) and their brother-in-law Basabhaya (Rajeev Kanakala) in a lot of danger. An existential drama ensues.
Narappa Movie Review
I have seen both the versions and was a little apprehensive whether Venky Anna Dhanush would be able to do justice to the role of Anna in Asuran. As always, it’s great when the first comes out first but as always, Venky Anna and the versatile actress Primani have showcased their strong action skills with great emotions. Apart from the two, everyone who starred in the film has given their best. It didn’t feel like I was watching a remake at all.
The film is so well sounded, the BGM as I said earlier also gave me goosebumps. What a fantastic film, this will be one of the most successful of Venky Anna’s films. Though I missed the cinematic experience, best of luck to the entire film crew for successfully scoring great collections in these difficult circumstances.
