Windfall Movie Story
A wealthy CEO and his wife arrive at their vacation home, only to find a burglar inside. The CEO offers to give the burglar money in exchange for his silence, promising not to involve the police. However, the burglar locks the couple in the sauna before leaving. On his way out, the burglar notices a security camera, which he fears might have recorded him. He returns to the house, demanding $500,000 in cash instead. The CEO calls his assistant, who assures him that the money will be delivered the following day.
During the tense interactions that follow, the strained relationship between the CEO and his wife becomes evident. Despite the CEO’s hopes of starting a family, his wife reveals to the burglar that she is deeply unhappy in her marriage. The burglar harshly advises her to stop playing the victim for having married a man purely for his wealth. The next day, the CEO speculates that the burglar might be one of his former employees, laid off due to an algorithm he designed to help companies downsize. A gardener arrives at the house to work on the landscaping. While conversing, the CEO subtly writes “Call 911” on the gardener’s sketchbook. However, the burglar notices and forces the gardener inside. Both the burglar and the wife criticize the CEO for recklessly putting another person’s life in danger.
Windfall Movie Review
Fantastic movie! Well-written and well-directed. Jesse Plemons never seems to disappoint, and teaming him up with Jason Segel? That’s a winning combo right there! If you’re not into films that delve into social issues, this might not be for you, but it’s not overly complex or hard to grasp—it’s actually quite relatable and easy to follow. The film definitely has a Seven vibe to it, with a great plot, beautiful script, and stellar performances. My husband and I were hooked from the very beginning. Honestly, it feels like a hidden gem. Highly recommend—watch it!
