The Marvels is a 2023 American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics series. Produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, it is a sequel to the film Captain Marvel (2019) and the television miniseries Ms. Marvel (2022), and the 33rd film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The film is directed by Nia DaCosta and co-written with Megan McDonnell and Elissa Karasik. The film stars Brie Larson as Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel, Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau, Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel, and co-stars Zawe Ashton, Gary Lewis, Park Seo-joon, Zenobia Shroff, Mohan Kapoor, Sagar Sheikh and Samuel L. Jackson. In the film, Danvers, Rambo, and Kamala team up as “The Marvels”, swapping places whenever they use their powers.

The Marvels premiered in Las Vegas on November 7, 2023, and was released in the United States on November 10 as part of the fifth phase of the MCU. Critics praised the acting but criticized inconsistencies in the script and tone. The film was a huge box office failure, grossing $206 million worldwide on a total production budget of $274.8 million, making it the lowest-grossing film in the MCU and one of the few MCU films to fail to make a profit during its theatrical release.

Carol Danvers destroys the Supreme Intelligence, leading to a civil war on Hala, the Kree home planet. Dar-Ben, the Kree leader, discovers a quantum band that opens a jump point, affecting the entire network. The trio, Rambo, Kamala Khan, and Danvers fight Kree enemies using their light-based powers.
They meet at the Skrull refugee colony on Tarnax, where a peace treaty is being negotiated. Dur-Ben sets up another jump point, causing Hala to lose breathable air. Danvers, Rambo, and Kamala form a team called “The Marvels” to rescue Hala. They plan to harness Earth’s sun energy to restore Hala’s sun. Durven steals Kamala’s tapes, but Kamala retrieves them and works with Danvers to empower Rambo. Kamala returns to Earth, and Danvers uses her powers to repair Hala
