Mukkabaaz was initially conceived by Vineet Kumar Singh, who, alongside his sister Mukti Singh, crafted the script based on his observations of the challenges faced by athletes in India. The project faced several rejections from producers until Kashyap expressed interest, under the condition that Singh undergo real boxing training. To prepare for his role, Singh trained for a year at the Netaji Subhas National Institute of Sports. The film’s editing was handled by Aarti Bajaj and Ankit Bidyadhar, while the cinematography was managed by Shanker Raman, Rajeev Ravi, Jay I. Patel, and Jayesh Nair. The score was composed by Prashant Pillai, with additional songs by Singh, Nucleya, and Rachita Arora Mukkabaaz premiered in the Special Presentations section at the 2017 Toronto International Film Festival and was also showcased at the 2017 Mumbai Film Festival. The film was released theatrically in India on January 12, 2018, and garnered mostly positive reviews, particularly praising Singh’s performance. It grossed ₹10.51 crore (approximately US$1.3 million) at the box office.

As Shravan navigates his new job, training, and family life, he also begins learning sign language to communicate better with Sunaina. Meanwhile, his office boss harasses him with excessive work demands. In retaliation for the marriage, Mishra has Sunaina’s father fired and forces her family to leave their home, driving them to their ancestral village.

However, the situation escalates when Mishra’s goons capture Sunaina’s family at his village house, and Mishra brutally breaks his brother’s leg as a warning. Faced with mounting challenges, Shravan must find a way to protect his family and reclaim his place in the boxing world while dealing with the oppressive influence of Mishra.
