The film was shot in various locations in India and the United States over a period of two months, from November 2022 to January 2023.The film was released on May 10, 2024 on the occasion of Akshay Tritiya and was a moderate commercial success.
In January 2022, a biopic based on the life of Srikanth Bora was announced, starring Rajkummar Rao. The film was initially titled “SRI” but was later changed to “Srikanth”. The film’s director, Tushar, revealed that the film he initially wanted to make was on Srikanth Bora, but that wasn’t possible as Bora was busy with work and didn’t have time to meet him. He then got in touch with Bora through his business partner, Ravi Manta. Manta (played by Sharad Kelkar in the film) was also instrumental in securing Bora’s film rights for Tushar, who had initially given the rights to another Bollywood director (Rakesh Omprakash Mehra). Mansa met Mehra and readily gave the rights to Tushar, who was not yet ready to make the film at that point.

The Hindi-language biographical film depicts the story of Srikanth Bora, an Indian entrepreneur who became known for founding Volant Industries, a company that employs unskilled and disabled people to produce environmentally friendly products. Volant Industries was founded in 2012. The film depicts the struggles of Srikanth, who was born blind in Seetharamapuram village, Machilipatnam, Andhra Pradesh, then undivided India.The film showcases Srikanth’s achievements despite adversity. On his birth day, his father, who named his son after cricketer Krishnamachari Srikanth, sees his newborn son blind, but his joy turns to disappointment. He digs a hole and buries himself, but is rescued by his mother. Despite his exceptional talent, he has to endure bullying at his local school.

Stories about underdogs can be compelling if done right and tug at the heartstrings if they are emotionally deep. This film does just that and offers an enjoyable journey.
This is the true story of Srikanth Bora, who turned the odds around despite being visually impaired. The story encompasses every aspect of his life, right from his childhood to his love life to his growth as a businessman.
Rajkummar Rao as Srikanth is a revelation. He embodies his character, or rather the character of a blind person, perfectly. With this performance, he is definitely in the running for another National Award. Jyothika shines as his teacher throughout the film and Sarath Kelkar gives his best despite being on screen for only a short time. Alaya F is lovable and plays well.
The screenplay is tightly constructed and gripping from the get-go. Tushar A. Hiranandani has done a phenomenal job as a director. The fights are so realistic that you can’t help but root for them. Don’t be surprised if you find yourself in tears at several points in the film.
