The film was released on October 5, 2018 to generally positive reviews. It was remade in Telugu as Rakshasudhu and in Hindi as Katputri. Following the discharge of the comedy dramatization Mundasupatti (2014), Ramkumar was sharp to do a genuine film to dodge being type-cast. He was motivated to type in a film on a psycho executioner after perusing an universal news story approximately Alexander Spesivtsev, and went through near to a year composing a anecdotal screenplay to fit around the character of a psycho executioner. Ramkumar at first battled to discover an performing artist to play the lead part of a forty-year-old man with a child, and in spite of working the child out of the script as a result, he still found it troublesome to persuade on-screen characters to sign the film.

Raatchasan Movie Review
Ratsasan is one of the best psychological thrillers I have ever seen. Right from the beginning, the film grips the viewer and builds up the tension to the highest level. Even though the psychopath is never seen on screen, the film manages to create a dark image of a psycho killer in the audience’s mind through the dangerous situations and circumstances the killer creates during the course of the film. The intermission scenes are very exciting and will leave the audience biting their nails in the thrilling climax.
Even in the second half, the staff has managed to maintain the pace of the film despite the small incidents and tensions. The film did drag a bit, especially at the end, but this is unnoticeable and negligible considering the film’s tragic and action-packed ending. The piano music in Psycho is extremely memorable and sticks in the viewer’s head even after the film is over.
