Once upon a time, there were two rich and spoiled brothers. They spent their birthdays on vacations in private jets. Their existence meant ordering people to do the simplest of things. One fine afternoon, life gets in the way and they find out they can no longer live a life of luxury and they have to do something to fend for themselves. That is exactly what Disney+ Hotstar’s latest offering, Life Hill Gayi, is all about. Starring influencers and actors Kusha Kapila, Divyendu and Mukti Mohan, the show is a hungry attempt to tell a mundane rags-to-riches story reminiscent of Schitt’s Creek.
Here is a story with a sharper spectrum. Kusha Kapila (Kalki) and Divyendu (Dev) are two brothers who are assigned a task by their grandfather (Kabir Bedi). They have to convert a dilapidated old mansion into a sprawling and profitable mountain hotel. Whoever successfully completes the task will be named the heir to their wealthy grandfather’s fortune. And that’s it. That’s the story.

The simple story and simple characters seem to be from the past and it’s fun to watch something simple.
An inheritance race between brothers vying for the management of a rundown hotel on a hill. They have six months to prove their worth and how they deal with the different situations they come across to win the challenge is the main thrust of the series.
Divyendu Sharma does justice to his role and makes it look effortless. Kusha Kapila is in his element and suits the role perfectly. The chemistry between the brothers benefits the series. Mukti Mohan gets a solid role and showcases his acting skills. Vinay Pathak is hilarious and entertaining as the drunken father. Atul Srivastava proves his mettle in a supporting role.
