Helen is a 2019 Indian Malayalam-language survival thriller directed by Mathukutty Xavier in his directorial debut and produced by Vineeth Sreenivasan under the banners of Habit of Life and Big Bang Entertainments. The film stars Anna Ben in the titular role, with supporting performances from Lal, Noble Babu Thomas, Aju Varghese, Rony David, and Binu Pappu. Released on 15 November 2019, Helen was met with critical acclaim and went on to win two National Film Awards: Best Debut Film of a Director for Mathukutty Xavier and Best Make-up Artist for Ranjith Ambady. Anna Ben received the Kerala State Film Award – Special Jury Award for her performance. The film has since been remade in Tamil as Anbirkiniyal (2021), in Odia as Monalisa (2021), and in Hindi as Mili, directed by Mathukutty Xavier himself.

Helen Movie Story
Helen Paul is a B.Sc Nursing graduate currently attending IELTS coaching classes with the goal of finding a job abroad. She works part-time at a restaurant called The Chicken Hub, located inside a luxurious mall. Helen lives with her father, Paul, an insurance agent who is conservative and disapproves of her desire to go abroad. He also has disagreements with Helen about her non-Christian friends, unaware that she is secretly dating a Muslim boyfriend, Azhar, who is looking for a job.
One night, as Azhar is giving Helen a ride home, they are stopped by the police, who penalize him for not wearing a helmet and for suspected drunken driving. Both are taken to the police station, where Paul is called to pick them up. Upon arriving, he is dismayed to see his daughter and refuses to speak to her, despite her attempts to engage him in conversation.

Anna Ben delivers a poignant performance as the cheerful Helen, while Lal skillfully conveys the anguish of a father missing his daughter. Be sure to watch for the impactful climax. There is a minor drawback if you think too deeply about certain details; for instance, I wondered how a rat could survive in a freezer for such a long time. Overall, Helen is a well-crafted survival thriller and drama that has its heart in the right place
