Drushyam Movie Story

Rambabu, a cable network operator, lives in the village of Rajavaram in the Araku region with his wife, Jyothi, and their two daughters—Anju, a twelfth-grade student, and Anu, a primary school student. His job allows him to indulge in watching films in various languages, often influencing his decisions and actions as he subconsciously emulates the characters he admires. The story takes a dark turn during a school camping trip when Anju becomes a victim of blackmail after a hidden camera captures her in the bathroom. The perpetrator is Varun, the son of Inspector General Geetha.

When Varun confronts Anju later, she panics and accidentally kills him by breaking his phone. With her mother’s assistance, they conceal his body in a compost pit meant for manure. Unbeknownst to them, Anu witnesses the entire event. When Jyothi informs Rambabu about the incident, he quickly formulates a plan to protect his family from legal repercussions. He disposes of the broken phone, but while attempting to get rid of Varun’s car, he is spotted by a corrupt police constable named Veerabhadra, who harbors a grudge against him. To divert attention, Rambabu takes his family on a trip to Vizianagaram, where they attend a religious meeting, watch a movie, and enjoy a meal at a restaurant, all while trying to maintain a facade of normalcy.

Drushyam Movie Review

One of the best movies I’ve seen in Telugu cinema is Drushyam. I truly appreciate Venkatesh for choosing such a unique and compelling plot. The film showcases logical storytelling with a strong narrative, proving that a great movie doesn’t rely on action scenes alone.

I believe our Telugu directors could learn a lot from this film. Instead of sticking to the usual formula of six songs, six fight sequences, and adding unnecessary double-meaning comedy or over-the-top acting, they should focus on creating more engaging plots. My humble request to Tollywood directors is this: if you find it challenging to come up with original stories, consider remaking Malayalam or Kannada films, as their narratives often surpass what we see in our industry.
