In 2020, Bill and Ted are struggling to write a prophesied song meant to unite the world, leading to the deterioration of their marriages and careers, as time and space begin to collapse. Their former time-traveling guide’s daughter, Kelly, arrives to warn them that they must create the song by 7:17 p.m. that night, or reality will implode.Using Rufus’s time-traveling phone booth, they attempt to retrieve the song from their future selves, only to find that their future selves have also failed and their wives have left them, blaming their past selves for the disappointments. In a desperate attempt to stabilize reality, the Great Leader sends a time-traveling robot named Dennis to kill Bill and Ted.
Kelly travels back to warn them but meets their daughters, Billie and Thea, who decide to help create the song. They use Kelly’s time machine to recruit musicians like Jimi Hendrix and Mozart. However, their efforts lead to an unfortunate incident where Dennis inadvertently sends them all to Hell.Bill and Ted then travel to 2067, where they meet their elderly future selves, who provide them with a USB drive containing the song. Just as they learn about the song’s true purpose, Dennis arrives and mistakenly causes chaos. In a bid to save their daughters, Bill and Ted sacrifice themselves, ending up in Hell, where they reunite with their daughters and the band.
