The film was released theatrically in October 2019. Principal photography began in January 2020 but was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Acharya was released in theatres on 29 April 2022 to largely negative reviews praising the performances of Chiranjeevi and Ram Charan, but was heavily criticised for its storyline, outdated script, visual effects, weak direction and editing. It was a commercial failure, grossing Rs 76 million against a budget of Rs 140 million.

Though the plot is very predictable, the character portrayals and other plot elements are done perfectly.
Mani Sharma deserves huge praise for making a perfect comeback with his most successful partner Chiru. Mani has once again proven that his pairing with Chiru is always a blockbuster. The songs ‘Laahe Laahe’ and ‘Bhale Bhale Banjara’ are very well done. The background music is worth praising. The stunt choreography by Ram Laxman is superb.
The film has a superb production design. The multi-million rupee temple sets are spectacular. The visual effects add extra depth to the film. Cinematography and production design are the main highlights of the film.
