Specs and Tucker show Lorraine a videotape from the 1986 investigation, now enhanced to reveal something shocking: an adult Josh standing behind his younger self. They then reach out to Elise’s former colleague, Carl, to help contact Elise’s spirit. Through the communication, Elise directs them to seek answers at an abandoned hospital where Lorraine used to work as a doctor. There, Lorraine recalls an incident from 25 years ago involving a disturbed patient named Parker Crane, who had been admitted after attempting to castrate himself. One day, Parker attacked young Josh, and shortly afterward, Lorraine saw him walking the halls. When she asked a nurse why Parker was out of bed, the nurse, stunned, revealed that he had actually committed suicide by jumping to his death the day before.
Following these clues, the group heads to the Crane family home. Inside, they are confronted by the malevolent spirit of Parker’s mother, Michelle, who calls herself “Mother Mortis.” Carl realizes that she is the spirit he had mistakenly summoned earlier, believing it to be Elise. In the house, they discover a hidden room filled with corpses, a black wedding dress, and old newspaper clippings. Carl’s touch reveals the horrifying truth: Parker was a serial killer, known as “The Bride in Black,” who had murdered 15 women while dressed as a woman.
