Okja Movie Story
In 2017, a young girl named Mija lives in South Korea with her grandfather and their beloved super pig, Okja. Their bond is incredibly close; they spend most of their days together, and at one point, Okja saves Mija from falling off a cliff. Their lives change when Dr. Johnny Wilcox, a spokesperson for the Mirando Corporation, declares Okja the best super pig and announces plans to take her to New York City. Mija’s grandfather gifts her a solid gold pig figurine, explaining that he saved up to replace Okja when she was taken away. Heartbroken, Mija travels to Seoul to find Okja, only to see her being loaded onto a truck.
Determined, Mija chases the truck, but it’s intercepted by the Animal Liberation Front (ALF). In the ensuing chaos, Mija and Okja manage to escape, but they are soon rescued by the ALF, led by Jay. He enlists fellow member K to translate and explain their plan: they intend to implant a recording device in Okja’s ear and allow her to be recaptured by Mirando to expose the company’s mistreatment of animals. Mija asks the ALF to return Okja to the mountains, but K deliberately miscommunicates her wishes, claiming she agrees to their plan. They leave, and Okja is recaptured. To mitigate public relations fallout, Lucy, a Mirando executive, arranges for Mija to come to New York for a staged reunion with Okja. However, once there, Okja is taken to a laboratory where she is forcibly bred with another super pig and subjected to cruel procedures for a taste test. After the ALF views the shocking footage, K confesses that he deceived the group about Mija’s support for their plan. In a fit of anger, Jay confronts K and expels him from the ALF.
