Tale of the Nine Tailed Story
Lee Yeon (Lee Dong-wook), a nine-tailed 1000-year-old tree and once the guardian of Baekdudaegansan Mountain, is now a townsman. He teams up with Taluipa (Kim Jung-nan), an afterlife immigration bureau official and guardian of the Samdo River, to eradicate supernatural beings that threaten the mortal world. He lives in the city and is supported by his loyal servant, veterinarian and fellow Gumiho, Gu Shin-ju (Hwang Hee).
Midway through his mission to capture a fox that has killed many people, eaten their livers, and married a man in the form of a human woman, he is discovered by the clever, wild and clever Nam Ji-ah (Jo Bo-ah), the brave producers of the TVC station.
Ji-ah notices Yeon leaving the venue and captures him on camera through an umbrella with a red mark on it. She finds out where Yeong lives and suspects that he has supernatural powers, eventually testing her theory using a memory chip that contains a video of Yeong exerting his powers against another fox (his half-brother Lee Ran fights and jumps off). Upon arriving at his apartment, Yeong chases her and saves her.
It is then revealed that as a child, Nam Ji-ah was involved in a traffic accident on her ninth birthday in which her parents were supposed to have died. However, Ji-ah is the only one who remembers that two other people who are not human were posing as her parents. It was the foxes who tried to eat Ji-ah, but she was saved by Lee Yeong. He made her forget about himself, but his magic did not work on her. Later, she was present at the scene of the accident, but her parents’ bodies were never found.
This prompted her to believe that they were still alive, and she decided to study the supernatural and find a way to find and save them.
Tale of the Nine Tailed Review
This drama is one of my favorites! I was here for Lee Dong Wook(LDW) initially but then I just loved everyone’s acting! Kim Bum was so good in this drama and I loved Jo Bo Ah’s acting! LDW and Kim Bum’s bromance was just an eye candy for me! They both are the perfect roles for this drama! And I have to mention that the last 2 episodes just made my eyes filled with tears and I really missed Kim Bum in the end after he died because I felt like as if the puzzle doesn’t fit together! But he did it to make for a greater cause which makes the drama even more touching! Loved every aspect of this drama and now it’s one of the fantasy dramas I really enjoyed!
