Ram “Ramu” Mohan is a socially awkward cardiologist practicing in the United States. His wife, Seetha, feels neglected due to his constant focus on work, leading them to decide on a divorce. They move to Sivapuram, Rajahmundry, where Ramu’s mother, Satyabhama, resides. Upon learning about the impending divorce, Satyabhama is taken aback and angrily shouts at a portrait of her late husband, Bangarraju, a charming zamindar who died nearly 30 years ago in an accident.
Meanwhile, Bangarraju’s soul is in Naraka, where he continues his flirtatious antics. Yamaraj, at the command of Lord Shiva, decides to send him back to Earth for a special mission only he can accomplish. Bangarraju, visible and audible only to Satyabhama, attempts to resolve his family’s issues. After several failed attempts, he possesses Ramu’s body on his birthday. In this new form, Bangarraju encounters Ramu’s young female cousins and invites them to their home, which makes Seetha feel jealous. During this time, Ramu crosses paths with Suri, a terrified drunk who runs away, mistaking Ramu for Bangarraju due to their identical appearances. In a moment of guilt, Suri confesses that he was responsible for Bangarraju’s death, having hit him with a lorry after being bribed. However, before he can reveal more, Suri dies in an accident, leaving Bangarraju to realize that his family is in grave danger. Meanwhile, Ramu begins to bond with his cousins, further intensifying Seetha’s jealousy.
