Barfi Movie Story
Murphy, affectionately known as Barfi, is an optimistic and charming young man born deaf and mute in Darjeeling. After his mother passed away during childbirth, his father, Jungbahadur, raised him while working as a chauffeur. Barfi is notorious for his mischievous antics, often cutting lampposts and playing practical jokes, which attract the attention of Inspector Sudhanshu Dutta, a local police officer. Barfi’s life takes a turn when he meets Shruti Ghosh, a beautiful and educated girl who has just moved to Darjeeling. Despite being engaged to Ranjeet Sengupta and set to marry in three months, Barfi quickly becomes enamored with her. Shruti also develops feelings for Barfi, but her mother discourages her from pursuing a relationship, believing Barfi’s disabilities and financial struggles make him an unsuitable partner. Reluctantly, Shruti follows her mother’s advice, marries Ranjeet, and leaves town, severing all ties with Barfi.
As Barfi grapples with his heartbreak, he faces a new crisis when his father is diagnosed with kidney failure, requiring ₹7,000 for surgery. In a desperate attempt to raise the money, Barfi considers kidnapping his childhood friend, Jhilmil Chatterjee, an autistic heiress, for ransom. However, when he arrives at Jhilmil’s home, he learns she has already been kidnapped. Her father, Durjoy Chatterjee, files a police report and arranges a ransom of ₹50,000. While evading Inspector Dutta for his earlier bank robbery attempt, Barfi spots Jhilmil in a van. Seizing the moment, he sneaks inside, drives her away from the ransom drop, and hides her in his apartment, all while the police close in on him.
Barfi Movie Review
What a charming film! It’s a heartwarming masterpiece that leaves you speechless, especially thanks to Ranbir’s incredible performance. Both Ranbir and Priyanka truly nail their roles, making you fall in love with their characters. The film beautifully illustrates the essence of true love “To live and die together in each other’s arms, so no one is left behind” which is my favorite line. It captures the unique and touching story perfectly. You could watch it a hundred times and still feel the same emotions. With a delightful blend of love and comedy, this is definitely a movie you shouldn’t miss
