Julayi (transl. Vagabond) is a 2012 Indian Telugu-language action comedy film directed and written by Trivikram Srinivas, produced by S. Radha Krishna under the Haarika & Hassine Creations banner. Starring Allu Arjun and Sonu Sood, the film also features Ileana D’Cruz, Rajendra Prasad, Rao Ramesh, Kota Srinivasa Rao, Brahmaji, Tanikella Bharani, and Sheetal Menon. The music was composed by Devi Sri Prasad, with cinematography and editing by Chota K. Naidu and Shyam K. Naidu, and Prawin Pudi, respectively. Released worldwide on 8 August 2012, Julayi received positive reviews from critics and achieved commercial success. It also won the Nandi Award for Best Popular Feature Film. The film was later remade in Tamil as Saagasam

In 2010, following the release of Khaleja, there were numerous reports suggesting that Trivikram Srinivas would collaborate with Venkatesh for his next film. Although it was initially slated to begin filming in early 2011, the project failed to materialize for unspecified reasons. In March 2011, reports emerged that Trivikram had approached Allu Arjun for a new film, which Allu Arjun accepted. DVV Danayya was set to produce the film under the Universal Media banner, having previously worked with Allu Arjun on the successful Desamuduru.
Ileana D’Cruz was reported to be cast as the female lead, with filming anticipated to start in May 2011. However, several announcements about the filming schedule proved to be inaccurate. In August 2011, news broke that Allu Arjun had injured his shoulder and traveled to Australia for surgery at Trivikram’s request, leading to further delays. In September 2011, an official statement from the producers confirmed that filming would commence in late October 2011 due to Allu Arjun’s recovery.

Bittu, a master robber, and MLA Varadarajulu devise a plan to steal ₹1,500 crore (approximately $180 million) from a bank. Meanwhile, Ravindra “Ravi” Narayan seeks quick riches, believing in easy money rather than hard work like his father, Narayana Moorthy. During a chance encounter with Bittu, Ravi shares his intention to make a fast buck by betting on an IPL match and reveals the location of the betting ring. Unfortunately, the police raid the spot, leading to Ravi’s arrest. While being interrogated, Ravi deduces that Bittu has tipped off the police as part of his plan and convinces ACP Raja Manikyam of his insight. Bittu successfully executes the bank heist, with his brother Lala tasked with hiding the stolen money at the city’s dumping yard.
However, the police apprehend Lala, who fights back, resulting in an accidental death. When Bittu arrives at the dumping yard to retrieve the money, he discovers it has been reduced to ashes. Grief-stricken and vengeful over Lala’s death and the lost money, Bittu vows to kill Ravi. To protect him, Manikyam relocates Ravi from Visakhapatnam to Hyderabad, placing him in the care of DIG Sitaram. During his stay, Ravi meets Madhu, a middle-class girl working for Travel Murthy, who is an associate of Bittu. Murthy helps Bittu and his gang by preparing fake passports for their escape from India. As Ravi and Madhu grow closer, they uncover Bittu’s plans, leading to a tangled web of love, danger, and revenge.

This is classic Trivikram magic—it’s bound to be amazing! While it fits his signature style, it still stands out in its own unique way. The characters like Ravindranarayan, Bittu, ACP Sitaram, Valmiki, and Varadarajulu are all witty and contextually rich. The script and story are fantastic, making the plot truly brilliant! The action sequences are well-executed, and the dialogues hit the mark. The performances are top-notch, making it a must-watch. Definitely give it a shot!
