Kingsman: The Secret Service Movie Story

In 1997, probationary secret agent Lee Unwin sacrifices himself during a mission in the Middle East to save his superior, Harry Hart. Feeling responsible for Lee’s death, Harry returns to London and presents Lee’s son, Gary “Eggsy” Unwin, with a medal engraved with a number to call in case of an emergency. Seventeen years later, Eggsy has grown into a rebellious young man, having dropped out of Royal Marines training despite his natural talent and athleticism. After being arrested for stealing a car that belonged to a friend of his abusive stepfather, Dean, Eggsy calls the emergency number on the medal. In response, Harry arranges for Eggsy’s release and confronts Dean’s gang, subduing them.

Harry reveals to Eggsy that he is a member of Kingsman, an independent intelligence agency founded by British elites who, after losing their heirs in World War I, pooled their fortunes to protect the world. The organization operates under the cover of a tailor shop on Savile Row. Going by the codename “Galahad,” Harry nominates Eggsy as a candidate to replace Kingsman agent “Lancelot,” who was recently killed by the assassin Gazelle during an attempt to rescue climate change scientist Professor James Arnold from kidnappers. Kingsman’s tech operative, “Merlin,” later discovers Arnold acting as if nothing had happened.

Kingsman: The Secret Service Movie Review

I grew up watching this movie, and I’ve rewatched it hundreds of times—each viewing as incredible as the first. The criticism it gets makes me laugh. People complain about the editing, saying but honestly, they need to get a grip. It’s clear those people probably skipped the iconic church scene, which is easily one of the best examples of editing in the industry. The Kingsman franchise is, without a doubt, one of the best film franchises ever made. I’m a huge fan of a movie that never disappoints its audience.
