Filming was announced in May 2019, and principal photography began the same month and was completed in January 2020. The film was originally scheduled for release on July 3, 2020, but was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The film premiered on Amazon Prime Video on August 12, 2021.

While playing cricket, the young Vikram got into a fight with older teens over the ball, revealing the fearless personality he would later become known for. Vikram spoke about his desire to join the Indian Army in the TV series Param Vir Chakra. His desire to join the military only grew as he got older.
In college, an English major, Vikram hoped to join either the Indian Navy or the Indian Army. He was selected for the Merchant Navy, which delighted his girlfriend Dimple but left her confused about his career. The glorification of war by brilliant journalists is vague but a young man giving his life for his country, that is the true meaning of patriotism. Captain Vikram Batra was a hero even before he joined the army but his life goal saved many lives. His story is a must read.
