Tumbbad is a 2018 Hindi folk Horror film directed by Rahi Anil Barve. Anand Gandhi also served as creative director and Adesh Prasad was co-director. The film was written by Mitesh Shah, Prasad, Barve and Gandhi and produced by Sohum Shah, Anand L. Rai, Mukesh Shah and Amita Shah. Sohum Shah plays the lead role of Vinayak Rao, and the film depicts his story of searching for a treasure hidden in the 20th century in the Indian village of Tumbbad in Maharashtra.

Director Rahi Anil Barve began writing the screenplay in 1993 based on a story by Marathi writer Narayan Dharap, which he heard from a friend. He wrote the first draft in 1997, when he was 18 years old. He created 700 pages of storyboards for the film between 2009 and 2010. Seven production companies optioned it but backed out thrice before going into production. The initial shoot took place in 2012 but after editing, Babu and Shah were not satisfied. The film was then rewritten and reshot, with filming completed in May 2015. Pankaj Kumar was the cinematographer and Sanyukta Kaza handled the editing. Jesper Kyd has composed the original music and Ajay-Atul has composed the songs.
