Viduthalai is a 2023 Indian Tamil-language crime thriller film directed and co-produced by Vetrimaaran, who co-wrote the screenplay with B. Jeyamohan. The film is the first of a two-part adaptation of Jeyamohan’s short story Thunaivan Set in 1987, the film tells the story of a police officer who is recruited to arrest the leader of a separatist group.

Viduthalai was initially announced as a standalone film in April 2021, with principal photography already beginning in December 2020. However, it was later announced to be released in two parts. The majority of it will be shot in Chengalpattu, with the first part expected to be completed by the end of December 2022. The film’s music will be composed by Ilaiyaraaja, with cinematography by R. Velraj and editing by R. Ramal.
